An Update

ShareThis

Howdy friends!

Sorry about disappearing there for oh, a hot month or so. It’s been a remarkably busy summer here. We put on the fantasy camp, I’m starting a new job (more on that later), I’m getting married (more on that much, much later), we “built” an office in our apartment after deciding not to move (wait til you see a picture – we turned about 12 square feet in a badass set-up w/ a TV), and are planning a honeymoon. Also, we’ve been working and trying to get in shape.

Again, busy.

All of this settles down the second we get back from our honeymoon September 27th. Then the new job starts October 1st – the good news: I will be literally writing 400% more posts. (Up from 5 to 20 a week. If you count BB, up from 10 to 20 a week, soo….hockey!). I’ll reveal the details a little further when I’m allowed to.

My dear old Dad will be staying at our condo while we’re gone (flying back to NY for wedding, back here right after) to keep Tyson and Jiggs company and oh yeah to have a free place to stay in Phoenix in late September. So we appreciate that.

When I return to work in October, this site will still be used on occasion, I think. It will just return to it’s original form, a personal blog where I write about stand-up comedy and news and thoughts and cats and all that other bullshit. I’m looking forward to not feeling like I have to comment on hockey here. Plus, 20 posts a week might leave me a little dry of anything original to say.

But until then, it will remain relatively dormant.

Hope your summer is going well – follow me at @jtbourne on twitter, and let’s catch up!

CONGRATULATIONS on ALL of the above! Its always great to hear about good things happening to good people.

  2. BECanucks says:

I’m really happy for you, and a bit sorry for us because the debate was more interesting on your blog than everywhere else (the quality level of commenting here was really high…) I will miss that, but I know it’s selfish. Congrats obn the wedding and the new gig.

Great to have a new post on the blog! So excited for you on the new work gig (and can’t wait to find out what it is), and so bummed to hear about your brother not being able to make it to the wedding (there is no back-door, circumvention-with-a-Drs-note kind of option?)!

I will be sad to see this blog become a once-in-awhile kind of thing (as BECanucks said), but it just means that your are getting the chance to really pursue, and make a living from, your hockey writing career – and that’s great. Will continue to follow you on Twitter and various other online sources of course.

I hope you have a wonderful, wonderful wedding day (best man snafu aside) – try to fit in a few quiet Justin and Brianna moments too. Many blessings to you and Bri!

Will you still post links to your other blogs on this blog? Then we can read the other blog posts, but come back here for comments. (Troll free zone!)

I am also so sorry to hear that your brother can’t come to your wedding…I got all teary reading the Twitter comments and replies from your friends last night.

Best wishes for a wonderful wedding day! I wish that someone had told me to remember that the most important part of your wedding is your marriage. So – say “I do” and try not to stress about the little things that will go wrong – like water off a duck’s back, baby!

Hey guys, thanks for the support.

Minnesotagirl71 – First off, you’re so freaking generous, I can’t thank you enough. I’ll write you a longer email later. Secondly, yes, I will still post the links here once things get going in October!

I’ve been missing the witty repartee over here all summer! Thanks for letting us know what you’re up to, we can all relate I’m sure. I hope you post at least a couple wedding pictures for us sentimental people!

  7. HockeyPhool says:

Justin, you reveal something about yourself in most of your writing, and especially here on this blog. I’m happy to say I want to keep following your blog (and your Twitter account) even if you aren’t always discussing hockey. Hope the rest of your summer is awesome – especially your wedding and honeymoon. I’m looking forward to new material when you return.

  8. derek says:

    congrats dude!

  9. Bart says:

Great blog; however one thing that you could do better than most writers is start writing some hockey tips for more experienced adult league players. The internet is full of about.com quality articles about passing, but some tips for those who want to refine their skills would be great. Hockey 201 rather than 101. Does this exist anywhere?

  10. Kristi says:

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and your new job!

  11. Adam says:

    Congratulations on your new job!

  12. Phil says:

Followed you here from Puck Daddy — your articles are the best. Sorry to see them go from there, but I dig the increase in eyes time and I can’t wait to see you on the new (by) line. 8)

  13. Char says:

Congrats for everything! :-) Looking forward to seeing whatever you may have to share.

  14. Alanna says:

I look forward to the blog getting back to its old ways; it was way better when it was 90% rambling and LOLCats and Nannerpuss.
Good luck with all of the goings on :)
