Got a special treat for Bourne’s Blog readers today - this song is about the life of an AHL/ECHL player… My buddy sent it to me today, and I think you’ll enjoy it.
Original by Curtis Patrick, performed by Dan Taylor

I'm a hockey player turned writer. After playing for Alaska Anchorage in the WCHA (NCAA), I carried on with an NHL tryout (New York Islanders in 2007) before spending a couple seasons in the AHL/ECHL (last year was 2008-09). My father, Bob Bourne, won four Stanley Cups with the Islanders in the '80's, as did my fiancee's dad, Clark Gillies. I'm now the web editor for theScore's hockey blog "Backhand Shelf."
Dan Taylor, the goalie? Cuz then it’s a whole other level of awesome….
’tis Dan Taylor, the goalie. I played with him in Reading, briefly….
Danny Taylor! One of my favorite Monarch goalies, along with Babs and Hauser…
won’t play for me
Won’t play for me either : (
Haha – leave your sticks here, they’ll be better used by someone with good hands or a hard shot, but don’t lose your confidence.
The lyrics are so dialed in for a “send down”.
How do you think you played? We thought you were great. But we’re re-assigning you (to a lower league). What can you work on? You need to skate faster, shoot harder and be two inches taller. But don’t worry. You’re totally good enough to play here.
