And I’m doing my rain dance for all your peeps back home. Having lived through many fire seasons over 10 years in California, I can sympathize. And I totally agree with you about the ever-changeful nature of weather. The first person to find the “perfect” climate, let me know! I’m packing up and moving to your La-La land pronto!

The reason I brought up Sid is because the Debbie Phelps comment of yours could be switched out verbatim for a lot of Sid bashing posts I read to the effect of “If I have to see his face one more time!…”

And about her overexposure – aside from the obvious (being the mom of the superstar athlete and all), I think she became someone people (not you, but a lot of other people) grew to care about in that we “got to know her” during the Olympics et al. So of course we want to see our favorite “athlete mom” and her responses to Michael’s triumphs (especially after that whole bong BS). But then again, I’m a “bud-ette” and I love that shit, and cried my eyes out during the whole Mandela thing.

The Sid thing is silly. He’s the best in the world at something. The “no facetime for the average” theory applies to all reality “stars” as well, especially the “The Hills-ish” type crowd.

Thanks for the well-wishes. Its nowhere near as bad as it was in ’03, and they’re getting this one under control. We could just use a sub-90 degree day for a few seconds!

We evacuated in the San Diego fires in ’07 – it was hellish around here. Hope you and yours and the community come thru it all ok.

I can’t believe you are hatin’ on Debbie Phelps (are you a Sid hater too because he gets too much air/face/promo time?)! During the Olympics I found her to be a charming, funny, down-to-earth lady who raised a pretty neat kid along the way. And besides, the only reason she gets so much air time is because of the effing amazing things her son has done (so do you hate him too – for taking home too many ESPYs?). Sheesh.
