Life is a crazy thing, isn’t it?
Two days ago (as his ordeal was happening), there was a note waiting in his inbox. It was from the Canadian Olympic Committee – he’s been chosen to be one of Canada’s hosts at the 2010 winter Paralympics.
He’s currently learning to say hello in a bunch of languages so he can greet people. I teared up again. Ha.

I'm a hockey player turned writer. After playing for Alaska Anchorage in the WCHA (NCAA), I carried on with a NHL tryout (New York Islanders in 2007) before spending a couple seasons in the AHL/ECHL. My father, Bob Bourne, won four Stanley Cups with the Islanders in the '80's, as did my fiancee's dad, Clark Gillies. I'm now a columnist for USA Today, Puck Daddy (Y!) and Hockey Primetime.com.
Annyong!
That is just awesome. Congrats to Jeff!
Congrats to my name sake!
I decided to stop posting here while drunk so it’s been a few days since I’ve posted… I hope Jeff has a speedy recovery, and he’s very lucky to have such a supportive family.
And Ms.Conduct, +20 cool guy points for the Arrested Development reference!
Just catching up. All the best to Jeff for a speedy recovery.
CONGRATS JEFF!!!!!
Decided to shoe horn some time in to get caught up on the blog (out of town last week – got to see the Pens lose to the Devils in Pgh – arg! Hopefully they will win against the Kings in LA on Thur when I see them live again – as a birthday treat to me!). Sooooo glad to hear that Jeff survived his ordeal and continues to thrive in all senses of the word. Geez, that was a tough one I’m sure. Take care Justin.
